July 2010 -
Vacationing in the beautiful British Virgin Islands! Of course, I took my
carving things with me.....at first the seagulls thought the wood chips were
bread crumbs!! The last picture is my daughter Sharon and I, showing off
our island dresses and jewelry!!
A picture is worth a thousand words, me,
doing what I love the best....shows, doesn't it?!!!
November 2009 - Once again I had the great pleasure of
being included in Woodcarving Illustrated's great magazine, this time in their
Holiday Issue!!! And obviously.....I'm just as excited and proud as can
be!!! Thank you so much Shannon, Bob and all the great people at
Woodcarving
Illustrated for including me!!! To see more views of this
carving, please go to the Newest Carvings Album.

October 31, 2009 - A snowy
egret in the spring, a black bear in the fall, we certainly get an assortment of
wildlife down at our pond!! Autumn in Pennsylvania, beautiful!!!

August 2009 - We may want to be snow birds, but to give
Pennsylvania it's due, in the spring, summer and fall there isn't anyplace
better to be! Here we are enjoying a 'staycation' with my brother-in-law
Bob and sister-in-law, Debbie. The first picture is of Bob on horseback in
'Little Toby River'. Check out their website at
patrailride.com
The second picture (left to right, Ben, me, Debbie & Bob) is the Heritage Tour
on Segways at Foxburg, their website is
segwaywpa.com The
third picture (Ben & me) is the Oil Creek Valley Train Ride, their website is
octrr.clarion.edu
The final picture is Ben & me, cruising down the Clarion River and the website
for that is
riverrambler.com If you're looking for something to do in the Clarion
area, these are all great getaways!!
July 12, 2009 - This weekend
was the Wood Carving Show at Cooks Forest. My buddy, Dale Docter, beat me
out for First Place in the Advanced Holiday Category, but I took Second and
Third Place, so it was still a very good show! Congratulations Dale, I
couldn't have been beaten by a better guy!!
April 25, 2009 - All of you who know
me, know that since our February vacation, I've been dreaming (plotting,
planning and scheming, for those of you who really know me!!!!) of wintering in
Florida. Unfortunately, those plans are on hold until retirement becomes a
reality, so, imagine my delight when this beautiful touch of Florida showed up
at our still barren, winter foliaged pond! He's been here three days and
each day the temperature has increased, from the forties on Wednesday to the
eighties today! I think he's magic!!! I hope he stays, at least till
fall!
February 15, 2009 - What a difference a day and 1,200
miles can make! The first picture was taken here in Pennsylvania, the
second in Florida at beautiful Siesta Beach. I so wish I was back there!
This trip has convinced us, we're ready to become 'snowbirds'!
November 7, 2008 - Here I am at the FolkWorks
Santa Show, posing with my friend Jeannie Piety. Larry, Jeannie's husband
took the photo. Larry is the carver in the family, Jeannie does the
painting, what a fantastic team they make!
The entire night was a real treat for
me, getting to visit with carving friends and to admire their work.
Meeting and talking to people who actually collect my work!!!! Getting to
see Paul and Cease Giddings, the owners of FolkWorks Gallery and Cher, their one
of a kind, dedicated employee extraordinaire, all made for one very perfect
evening!!!
July 12, 2008 Once again carving
commitments kept me from competing in the Cooks Forest Carving Show (sorry
Brian!). I don't think I would have stood a chance of winning
though.....because once again Don O'Day stole the show!! It's obvious why,
isn't it?!!! Both the bird carvings are his and pictures do not do them
justice, they look even more real in person! Great job Don,
Congratulations once again on a job well done!!!
Here's my friend Dale Doctor holding his biggest
winner! The skeleton in the second picture is his also. Sorry Dale,
I missed getting one of the rat you carved, it was equally as great!!!
Congratulations again to both you guys!!!
Okay, I know these
pictures don't have anything to do with carving but I wanted to share them with
you anyhow! Ben and I recently spent eight days in Arizona, touring the
Grand Canyon and surrounding area.
I joke that I got to see
the Canyon from every view, in, around, under and over. My favorite, by
far, was from a helicopter. The view seen from above was the most awesome of
all!
I've only flown a couple
of times and this was my first helicopter ride. I wondered if I'd be
afraid.....guess the photo shows I'm not and how much I loved it!!
Hmmmmm, I think this update
could be considered to do with carving after all....the view we had from that
helicopter was carved by the ultimate artist. How great we got to see it
from his point of view!

Duncan, Shannon Flowers and the entire staff at Wood Carving Illustrated for

July 10, 2005 - I entered five carvings in the Cooks

big winners! The Fairy on the teapot won First Place and Best of Division
in the Realistic Carving in the Round Category, plus the Most Innovative Piece
Award!
The theme
of the show was "Where Nature Meets the Arts", I carved the man carving the bear
especially for the show. He won First Place, Best of Division and Best of
Theme in the Theme Carving Category! He also just happens to be my 100th

Relief Carving Category. The Witches won Second and Honorable Mention
Ribbons in the Realistic Carving in the Round Category. To see a close up
picture of each of them, please go to the Halloween

Here I am, the very happy winner trying to juggle
all my carvings and ribbons, thank goodness Ben was there to help!! Hmmmm,
do I look just a little bit happy to you?!! What a great weekend it was,
lots of great carvers to talk to and fantastic carvings to see! Not to
mention getting to see Wayne from
MDI Woodcarvers Supply again and having the
opportunity to spend too much.....once again!! All in all it was one
terrific weekend (and worth staying up till 3:30 in the morning to finish my
Theme piece the night before it had to be entered!)
Colin and me
Recently
my husband Ben and I had the great pleasure of meeting, in person, a fellow
carver and good friend from Canada, Colin Partridge. It was so terrific
finally getting to meet him, we had a great time and look forward to his next
visit!
Colin mainly
carves Wood Spirits but has lately been exploring the wonderful world of Santa
Carving. To view his work, please visit his website at
